Diagnostic Imaging & Laboratory Services
MountainView is Las Cruces's first all-digital hospital. This means faster diagnosis and treatment for virtually everyone who comes into Outpatient Services. We offer a full range of high-speed digital tests, including MRIs, CT Scans, and X-Rays, as well as lab work. We also perform a comprehensive array of breast diagnostics, such as mammography (with Soft Touch Mammopad), ultrasound, and more.
Outpatient Laboratory Services Hours
Outpatient Laboratory Services are available on a walk-in basis, Monday - Friday from 7:00am - 5:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am - 12:00pm.
Angiography/Interventional Radiology
Angiography is an X-Ray exam of the arteries and veins that are used to diagnose blockages and other blood vessel diseases. An interventional radiologist performs this procedure to detect abnormalities like aneurysms, cerebral vascular disease or blood vessel malformations. The radiologist can treat blockages immediately utilizing techniques like angioplasty and thrombolysis.
CT Scan
A computerized tomography scan produces cross-sectional images of all body parts. It is used to diagnose cancers, and vascular diseases.
EEG
An electroencephalogram – or EEG – measures electrical activity in the brain. It is used to help evaluate head injuries, tumors, diseases and types of seizure disorders.
EMG
Electromyography – EMG - is a test that assesses the health of the muscles and the nerves controlling the muscles. EMG helps physicians differentiate problems caused by primary muscle weakness from those caused by neurological disorders.
Laboratory
The lab at MountainView Regional provides testing in Surgical, Pathology, Cytopathology, Hematology, Microbiology, Chemistry and Blood Banking with the latest technology. Automated multi-test instruments screen samples for disorders in various organ systems, providing physicians with reliable test results in a timely manner. The Laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and is supervised by a pathologist certified by the American Board of Pathology.
Mammography
At MountainView, we want you to be as comfortable as possible during your mammogram. That's why we offer the Soft Touch MammopadTM, a cushion that is used during the mammogram to ease the pressure you feel. Mammography uses low-dose x-rays to produce detailed images of breast tissue. These images aid in the early detection of problems or changes caused by breast cancer or other types of breast disease.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging – MRI - produces detailed images of the brain, spinal cord, joints, soft tissue and the body's vascular system without radiation. Doctors use this information to diagnose injuries and diseases in the body’s soft tissues, such as torn ligaments, strokes, and infections in the brain, spine or joints.
Peripheral Vascular Imaging
This imaging technique uses ultrasound technology to evaluate the veins and arteries of the legs. The test evaluates blood flow through the lower extremities to help determine the most appropriate treatment for peripheral vascular disease.
Ultrasound/Echocardiography
This imaging technique uses high-frequency sound waves and echoes to create dimensional images without radiation. It helps doctors see blood flow through the heart, abdominal and pelvic structures and is also used during obstetrical exams.
Digital P-A-C-S Diagnostic Imaging
MountainView is the first hospital in New Mexico to feature complete diagnostic imaging, (CT, X-Ray, MRI) with our state of the art computerized system called P-A-C-S (Picture Archiving Communication System). This system records and shares all images electronically instead of on film. This improves image quality and provides doctors with rapid access to a patient's results from any connected location, such as a doctors office.
