Regional Heart Center
The Heart Center is located on the first floor of MountainView Regional Medical Center. MountainView Regional features the latest state-of-the-art cardiovascular diagnostics and treatments for coronary artery disease. ECGs, stress testing, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, ultrasound in addition to open-heart surgery and angioplasty are all performed by our nationally recognized Heart Team.
Cardiac Catheterization
When non-invasive testing confirms the need for a more detailed diagnosis the cardiovascular laboratory is the site for the next level of testing. The cath lab is also the setting for a variety of other procedures patients may need. Cardiac catheterization is a common, relatively painless non-surgical procedure used to more specifically diagnose heart disease. A flexible tube is placed within arteries leading to the heart. A camera within the tube transmits images that allow the operation and function of heart valves to be studied, and structural or muscular problems to be detected. The cardiac cath lab is staffed by a team of registered nurses, registered radiologic technologists and registered invasive cardiovascular specialists.
Cardiac Surgery
MountainView Regional was designed with Cardiology services in mind. From progressive cardiac cath labs adjacent to the Coronary Care Unit and Cath Care Recovery Unit, to Nuclear Medicine expertise and spacious cardiac surgical suites, comprehensive heart care is available here.

Open Heart Surgery
In its first full year of services, MountainView Regional Medical Center's Open Heart Surgical Program quickly established itself as the leading provider of cardiac surgery and, even more important, minimally invasive heart surgery. Today, the hospital provides the vast majority of open heart surgeries in southern New Mexico.
Cardiac Rehabilitation
The Cardiac Rehabilitation program at MountainView Regional Medical Center involves a comprehensive team approach to helping patients understand how to manage cardiac disease and improve overall health and quality of life. This service coincides with the outstanding cardiac inpatient services already being offered at MountainView Regional Medical Center.
MountainView Cardiac Rehabilitation offers four important components to the program: an evaluation, physical activity, lifestyle education, and psychosocial support. Outpatient cardiac rehabilitation enables individuals with heart disease, and those recuperating from cardiac surgery, to efficiently and effectively resume an active, healthy lifestyle.
