Dr. Sheikh Latif, D.O., FACS, FACOS Joins MountainView Medical Group

Las Cruces NM, 1 July 2020—MountainView Medical Group announces that vascular surgeon, Dr. Sheikh Latif, joined the MountainView Medical Group Heart and Vascular Center – Vascular Surgery Clinic on July 1, 2020. Dr. Latif is board certified in general surgery, and board eligible in vascular surgery. His services will include a comprehensive range of care for all kinds of vascular problems to assess and treat arterial and venous disease including arterial disorders, limb salvage, dialysis access procedures, and venous disease—deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins.
Dr. Latif attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, Old Westbury, NY before completing his general surgery residency at St John Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY, where he also served as the chief surgical resident. He went on to pursue a fellowship in vascular and endovascular surgery at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Brown Mills, NJ.
Dr. Latif, joins MountainView Medical Group with a mission to provide compassionate and expert vascular care to patients of all ages overcoming a variety of vascular health challenges. Combining his experience as a board-certified general surgeon with highly specialized vascular and endovascular training, Dr. Latif offers patient-focused solutions and a warm bedside manner. Dr. Latif has cared for people in a variety of communities—large and small—across the country with the dedication to his discipline and attention to continual advances in vascular and endovascular surgery. For over a decade, Dr. Latif provided medical care and his expertise to patients at Mercy Medical Center, Fresno Heart Hospital, and Adventist Health Central Valley Network. His experience includes many hours as a clinical instructor in surgery at A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona, Touro University School of Osteopathic Medicine and the UC Davis School of Medicine in California. Prior to joining MountainView, Dr. Latif served as Medical Director of The Wound Care Center and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Adventist Health Delano Regional Medical Center and Hospital in California.
Dr. Latif is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, the International Society for Vascular Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
During his free time, Dr. Latif enjoys rooting for his son who is a UCLA competitive butterfly swimmer, Team USA Youth Pan American Games silver medalist in epee fencing, and two-time Alpine skiing gold medalist. When not traveling or working, Dr. Latif relaxes at home with his family, which includes their beloved dog, Miss Daisy, a ten-year-old mix breed Lhasa Apso rescue. Dr. Latif is also a PADI-Certified Open Water Diver.
In joining the MountainView Medical Group as an employed physician, Dr. Latif is now able to leverage the assets of the community’s largest integrated medical care delivery team. MountainView Medical Group now consists of over 120 employed providers providing a full scope of services from urgent to primary to specialty care.
