Dr. Carolina Ponce Joins MountainView Medical Group

Las Cruces NM, 1 June 2020—MountainView Medical Group announces that Las Cruces interventional cardiologist, Dr. Carolina Ponce, joined the MountainView Medical Group Heart and Vascular Center - Cardiovascular Care Services Clinic on June 1, 2020. Dr. Ponce is board certified in Internal Medicine, General Cardiology, Echocardiography and Interventional Cardiology. She is board eligible for Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr. Carolina Ponce was born in Ecuador and obtained her medical degree at Universidad Catolica de Guayaquil. Her Internal Medicine and general Cardiology Fellowship were completed at the University Of New Mexico. She then completed her Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College. Dr. Ponce was the first female fellow from UNM pursuing Interventional Cardiology as a subspecialty. She was also the first female fellow at Westchester Medical Center and the first female Interventional Cardiologist from Ecuador.
Dr. Ponce has a special interest in high risk PCI, full revascularization using hydrid approach, cardiogenic shock, valvular disease, quality improvement projects and cardiovascular disease in women specially Cardio-obstetrics.
In addition to her cardiology practice, she is pursuing new opportunities to get involved in global health initiatives to provide medical care in underserved communities. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, playing soccer and volleyball.
In joining the MountainView Medical Group as an employed physician, Dr. Ponce is now able to leverage the assets of the community’s largest integrated medical care delivery team. MountainView Medical Group now consists of over 120 employed providers providing a full scope of services from urgent to primary to specialty care.
