Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance Benefits
Residents are eligible to participate in programs which provide medical, dental and vision care effective the first of the month following orientation (typically July 1) and continues during any approved sick, parental/caregiver, bereavement, jury duty and one-time medical leave of absence as long as benefit premiums are satisfied. Each benefit option may be elected independently. Dependent coverage is also available.
While MountainView Regional Medical Centerr pays for most of the cost of this coverage, residents are required to contribute a portion of the cost of coverage elected on a bi-weekly pre-tax basis.
Medical Benefits:
- Medical insurance shall commence on the first of the month following date of hire (UnitedHealthcare Choice Plus)
- Dental insurance is an option for you and/or your family at a minimal expense (Delta Dental)
- Vision insurance is an option for you and/or your family at a minimal expense (VSP)
- Flexible spending accounts - Resident physicians may elect to participate in the flexible spending account program for health and dependent care expense reimbursements (WEX)
- Employee assistance program - A program that supports a healthy work environment by focusing on employee health, safety and infection prevention (Carelon Behavioral Health)

Paid Time-Off (PTO) and Leave(s) of Absence
- 21 days per year of vacation, sick and personal, see program policy for details.
- New Mexico Healthy Workplaces Act - In addition to paid time off allowance, employees are eligible to earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employees can use up to 64 hours of NM earned sick leave in a rolling 365-day period and can rollover up to 32 hours per training year
- Up to six weeks of one-time medical, caregiver or parental leave, available the first day of orientation and one additional week of paid vacation upon program director approval
Counseling and Psychological Support Services Employee Assistance Program
The employee assistance program is a voluntary work-based program offering free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work related problems.
Life Insurance
- One time per salary. Additional supplemental life insurance coverage is available in amounts from 1x to 6x your annual pay
- Coverage for spouse can be purchased in increments of $25,000 to a maximum of $250,000
- Coverage for dependent children of $10,000 may be purchased for each dependent child
Professional Liability Insurance
MountainView Regional Medical Center provides residents with professional liability insurance to cover the residents while acting in the performance of their duties and assignments within the training program (moonlighting activities are not covered).

Educational Fund Stipend
- Internal Medicine - Education fund is $1000.00 per academic year per resident. No carry-over and is not eligible for payout.

- ONMM - Education fund is $1000.00 per academic year per resident. No carry-over and is not eligible for payout.
Scholarly Activity
- For categorical programs greater than one year, a one-time use fund of $3000.00 is available for residents to present on a publication in which they are first or second author on at a local, regional or national conference during their training program. - For categorical programs one year in length, a one-time use fund of $1000.00 for residents to present on a publication in which they are first or second author on at a local, regional or national conference during their training program.
