LAS CRUCES, NM - MountainView Regional Medical Center on Tuesday announced that Matthew Conrad has been appointed chief executive officer, effective Sept. 20. Conrad has served as interim CEO since mid-July 2021.
“MountainView Regional Medical Center has proudly served the community of Las Cruces and surrounding areas for nearly 20 years,” Conrad said in a company news release. “I am excited to continue that commitment and to work closely with our board of trustees, physicians, employees and volunteers to provide quality care, exceptional patient experiences and strong employee engagement.”
Conrad has held key roles in hospitals since 2013. He was assistant CEO at Carolinas Hospital System in South Carolina from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, he was promoted to chief operating officer at Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Florida. He moved west to Abilene, Texas, in 2019 as COO for Abilene Regional Medical Center before coming to Las Cruces to be COO at MountainView Regional Medical Center in late 2020.
In those roles, he supported caregivers in their efforts to enhance patient satisfaction, played a key role in the growth of employed physician practices and hospital service lines and oversaw renovation and expansion projects.
“Matthew’s leadership will undoubtedly take MountainView Regional Medical Center to the next level. He interacts well with all employees and physicians and is known for being pragmatic and fair,” said Joe Bullock, MountainView's chairman. “On behalf of the entire board, we are excited to begin working with him in his new role.”
Born in Frankfort, Kentucky, and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Conrad obtained a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Darla Moore School of Business and a Master of Health Administration from Medical University of South Carolina. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce.
