MountainView OB/GYN Provider Dr. Surjit Reddy Moolamalla Marks 1,000 Robotic Surgeries Milestone
1/21/2025
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – MountainView Medical Group is proud to celebrate Dr. Surjit Reddy Moolamalla of Advanced OB/GYN Associates for completing his 1,000th robotic surgery.
Dr. Reddy Moolamalla is a board-certified obstetrician gynecologist who joined MountainView 12 years ago. Since then, he has gained a positive reputation among patients and in the community. Most recently, he was named Best OB/GYN in the Las Cruces Sun-News 2024 Best of Mesilla Valley Community's Choice Awards.
“This (robotic surgery) achievement reflects not only Dr. Reddy Moolamalla’s exceptional skill and knowledge but also his commitment to providing the highest level of care to our community,” said MountainView CEO Matthew Conrad. “We are incredibly proud to have him as a part of the MountainView family.”
While Dr. Reddy Moolamalla is proud of his 1,000 robotic surgeries milestone, he considers having a positive impact on the lives of his patients to be his greatest achievement.
“I feel deeply honored and privileged to serve the women of our community,” Dr. Reddy Moolamalla said. “Central to my practice philosophy is the cultivation of a strong doctor-patient relationship founded upon open communication and empathy.”
Robotic (or “robot-assisted”) gynecologic surgery is a minimally invasive type of surgery in which the physician uses the tiny and precise “arms” of a special surgical tool to perform the procedure. These robotic tools can operate through incisions that are too small for the physician’s fingers; they also allow the doctor to manipulate surgical tools in a way that would not be possible with the actual human hand.
Types of robotic gynecologic surgeries can include removal of gynecological cysts or masses, hysterectomy, myomectomy (removal of uterine fibroids), oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries), and more.
“Some of the advantages of the robotic surgical system platform include less pain, less blood loss, decreased risk of infection, less scarring, and a shorter hospital stay with shorter recovery time,” Dr. Reddy Moolamalla said.
Dr. Reddy Moolamalla began doing robotic surgeries just one year after he came to MountainView. Now that he has reached the 1,000 robotic surgeries milestone, Dr. Reddy Moolamalla and his team can continue to grow their skillset by taking on more complex and extensive surgical cases. “We can get more and more advanced,” he said.
Offering advanced surgical services locally is crucial, as it allows patients to get the care they need without having to travel to another city.
“We want to provide patients with that one-on-one care, and be there for every time of their lives,” he said.
Dr. Reddy Moolamalla calls his career at MountainView both rewarding and satisfying. Along with his drive to provide the best care for patients, he credits his office staff for helping to run a successful clinic.
“They do a lot for me; everyone knows how much they work,” he said.
Dr. Reddy Moolamalla completed his medical degree at Gandhi Medical College in Secunderabad, India, and completed family practice and OB/GYN residencies at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, Texas. Prior to joining MountainView, Dr. Reddy Moolamalla served patients in Alamogordo.
Along with robotic surgery, his special interests include high-risk obstetrics, infertility, and preventive health.
Dr. Reddy Moolamalla said he hopes to reach 2,000 robotic surgeries soon.
